Arusha is the base of Air Excel's operations‚ and home to the company's founders and their family. It is located in northern Tanzania on the southern slopes of Mt. Meru. Apart from agriculture and mining of minerals‚ tourism is a major contributor to the economy of the region. This is due to the city's proximity to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area‚ the Arusha‚ Kilimanjaro‚ Manyara‚ Tarangire National Parks and of course the Serengeti National Park.

Many documentaries and feature-length films have been set in and around Arusha‚ including the 1962 Howard Hawks film Hatari with John Wayne.

Arusha became the base for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and is the home to the Office of the East African Community. Due to its elevation of 1400 meters, Arusha has a pleasant climate.
